Lip blushing

Lip blushing is a procedure where colour pigments are inserted into the lips using tattooing needles for either tattoo art or cosmetic tattooing.

About Cosmetic Lip Tattoo

Lip blush tattooing addresses lip imperfections by providing a semi-permanent solution for achieving the ideal lip colour. Using a minor, mechanized needle, pigment is carefully deposited into the lips to create layers of colour. This allows clients to select their desired colour, whether it be to complement their natural lip shade or their preferred lipstick hue.

Our artists consult with clients to understand their desired look and provide a topical anesthetic to reduce discomfort during the treatment.

The healing process typically takes 5 to 7 days after treatment, with final results visible within 5 to 6 weeks. The duration of results can vary from 2 to 5 years, depending on factors such as individual skin type, health condition, and daily activities.

During the healing process, the pigment of the tattoo may darken. It is recommended to schedule your tattoo around essential events, such as weddings or business meetings. If unsure, consult with your tattoo artist before making an appointment.

Our lip artists can help achieve a natural or dramatic look for your lips, including enhancing fullness and adding a subtle or bold colour.

 Restrictions

Preparing your skin for a lip blushing procedure imposes the following restrictions.

Please read carefully:

  • It is advised to avoid working out on the day of the procedure, as body heat can expand the pores.
  • Avoiding heavy sunlight and sunburn for three days before the procedure is recommended.
  • The skin mustn't be in the process of healing before the procedure.
  • It is recommended to avoid consuming coffee or any caffeinated beverages on the day of the procedure.
  • Avoid taking fish oil, aspirin, niacin, vitamin E, ibuprofen, and omega-3 supplements unless medically necessary for 48-72 hours before the procedure. Tylenol or acetaminophen is acceptable.
  • It is recommended to refrain from consuming alcohol 24 hours before and after the procedure.
  • Avoid undergoing facial procedures for two weeks, two weeks before the procedure.
  • It is recommended to avoid undergoing Botox or dermal filler procedures 2-4 weeks before the treatment.

Preparation

  • Start exfoliating your lips twice a week. We recommend using sugar and honey as a natural exfoliant.
  • Make sure your lips are moisturized by using lip balm daily before your visit.
  • If you have a history of colds, please consult your doctor a week before your visit to get the necessary medications to reduce the likelihood of developing colds due to the healing of your lips.
  • We recommend eating before the procedure to make you feel more comfortable during the treatment.

Post Procedure

To reduce bruising and swelling, apply a cold compress or covered ice pack to the area. Move the ice pack around, and don't leave it on for too long to prevent frostbite. Avoid applying ice directly to the skin and refrain from wiping or licking the lips, as this can further damage the area and slow down healing.

Applying a layer of the aftercare cream before eating and brushing your teeth is recommended to protect the area.

Lip Blushing

Aftercare Days 1-7

For the next week, apply the aftercare ointment 2-3 times daily (in the morning and at night). After that, you can use paw ointment or lip balm regularly to moisturize your lips.

Increasing your Vitamin C intake is advisable to support the healing process.

Zovirax cream can be applied to the affected area, or a doctor can prescribe medication for cold sores.

Avoid picking or peeling off flaking skin; let it fall off naturally, typically within 4-7 days.

What to Expect

Day 1: Swelling, sensitivity, thick, heavy lipstick.

Day 2. Swelling, sensitivity, preservation of reddish colour.

Day 3. Less swelling, thicker texture, pain, hot sensation before exfoliation, may be brick red.

Day 4. At the beginning of exfoliation, the lips were very chapped.

Day 5: Lips are very chapped, but the first exfoliation stage is almost complete. Remember not to sting!

Day 6: A very soft, rich colour begins to appear.

Days 7-13. The colour of the lips disappears and becomes "matte" (the second stage of weathering). It starts with a whitish/greyish veil on the lips.

The colour blooms from the inside more every day, up to 4 weeks after the operation).

Day 30. Healing should be complete; the colour you see is the colour you have. The lips will remain a little dry for a month or two, so use a good lip balm with SPF 30, and they will return to normal, but with all their colour.

6 to 12 weeks. The client returns for a second appointment to fill in gaps or lighten the colour.

Important Reminders

  • Use a new pillowcase when you sleep.
  • Allow scabs or dry skin to exfoliate naturally. Removing hair may cause scarring or discolouration.
  •  Avoid facials, Botox, chemicals or microdermabrasion for four weeks.
  •  Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for one week.
  •  Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for four weeks after the procedure. Wear a hat when you are outdoors.
  • Avoid prolonged hot showers for the first ten days.
  •  Avoid sleeping on your face for the first ten days.
  •  Avoid swimming face down or in a lake or hot tub for the first ten days.
  •  Avoid applying topical cosmetics and sunscreen to the affected area.
  • Do not rub, prick or scratch the affected area.
  • Limit showers to 5 minutes to avoid creating too much steam. Also, do not immerse your face or the treated area in water while washing your face.
  •  A second treatment is recommended 6-12 weeks after the initial treatment.
  •  Be careful when brushing your teeth, as toothpaste can wash away the pigment from your lips.
  •  For the first few days, drink through a straw and try not to let food touch your lips.
  • The duration of a lip colour enhancement can vary, typically lasting up to 5 years. Various factors, such as skin chemistry, skincare products, and exposure to the elements, can affect how long it lasts.
  • Clients are encouraged to return every 1-2 years for a colour refresh to maintain their desired look. Touch-ups are recommended for those with fillers as well.

Care for a long time

Lip blush tattoo typically lasts up to 5 years, depending on your skin chemistry, the active ingredients in your skincare products, and environmental exposure.

We recommend that our clients return every 1-2 years for a colour touch-up to maintain their colour. We recommend you come in for a colour touch-up if you have fillers.
